The annual gala challenge between Mid Calder and East Calder took place on Thursday 10th June at East Calder, where Mid Calder retained the cup won last year with a 3-2 win. After taking an early 2 games to nil lead thanks to the 2001s and 2000s, East Calder were winners in the 99 and 98 age group to even up the scores. The 96s made it 3-2 and the remaining 2 games (95 and 94) both fought out credible draws to take the cup back to Mid Calder.
A close tournament once again, and thanks to East Calder for the effort in organising it all. Also thanks to Colin Clapperton of www.winningposttrophies.com who provided the medals presented to all who took part. On Friday 18th June, the Mid Calder coaches once again take to the park in the annual game against the 1994s. A convincing win for the coaches in 2009 will be difficult to repeat as the 94s, fresh from their league cup victory and another year, taller, stronger and fitter will be seeking revenge for that heavy defeat. The game is at the village park and kick off at 6.30pm. Come along and support us all. |
